What is Your Thrill?

yellow3Premise Blazer, Vintage Liz Claiborne blouse, Aerie shirt, Torn by Ronny Kobo bandage skirt, Aldo shoes, Vintage clutch, Elizabeth & James sunnies
I’ve come to terms that my partying days are becoming more and more obsolete. Let’s not get it twisted though, an occasional party night is quite alright with me, but the urge to go has lessened. Let’s blame it primarily on getting older and trying to juggle too much sh*t. I know what piques my interest but sometimes when a question is posed like “what do you like to do for fun” or “what are your hobbies?”…it’s answered with a generic – watch movies, read a book, shop, cook, and of course EAT. You know..the typical answers. But this past weekend, while taking a solo trip to DC to meet a friend for brunch, I had an epiphany. It was like a fine awakening. I set my mood. Created a new station for Pandora (Evelyn “Champagne” King), adjusted my seat and was blissfully cruising. The weather was oh-so perfect yesterday – so in result it was a perfect moment. I was thrilled and completely satisfied. Listening to a decade of music where females sung about love, being in love, heartbroken, or just the vibe of “I am women, hear me roar” or in the 80’s, it was more like hear me purr. (They were serious sex kittens back then, weren’t they?) ha! But any who, sorry for the random, long post today but I wanted to share my simple joys in life. I guess times like that are really my thrill. Boring, yea…i know. 🙂
yellow1yellow6yellow5yellow4yellow9yellow7*I am completely heart broken at the tragedies we are facing in this cruel world and my heart, prayers and deep thoughts goes out to the victims in Boston today. This is truly sad.*
Have a great day guys and thanks for stopping by!

Western Lace

lace1Calvin Klein hat, Love Fire dress (Similar here and here), Madewell denim jacket, Nine West boots, Vintage Liz Taylor bag
Can you tell I was inspired by the Coachella madness in this ensemble? I would totally wear this outfit but aimfully sprinkle in far more chains and accessories since I would be in festival-hipster mode. I love the juxtaposition of this feminine lace dress paired with a rusty-washed, denim jacket and western boots. It’s comfort meets girly, which is what I’m all about. I have this deep desire to maintain this cool, no fuss style flow straight through the Summer. 🙂

I can’t wait to see the street style shots from Coachella’s music festival. Kate Bosworth and Diane Kruger is who I’ll be cyber stalking for the cool fashion diggs. Love them! Alright lovelies, Have an awesome day and weekend!!

Coveted Formal Wear

promstyleWhether you’re going to a prom, gala, or a special birthday dinner, here are some fab options for your upcoming event. As of now I don’t have any special occasions coming up, but with some kiddos getting ready for the prom and an expected influx for weddings, I thought it would be appropriate to share some fancy yet adorable formal wear. Found most of my cute and affordable dresses from Nordstrom, Asos, and David’s Bridal  and it was definitely hard to choose only four but I prevailed. These dresses even come with suitable shoes to match. 🙂
1. Black Lace dress 2. Black patent sandals 3. Butterfly Applique Tutu dress 4. Lace pumps 5. Double belted layered dress 6. Gold metallic sandals 7. Chiffon High Low, Floral Dress 8. Pink sandals

Fashion At Morgan’s SuperNova Spring 2013 Show

fambackstage1
Sunday night, I attended Morgan State University‘s Spring Fashion Show to support their 8th year run as a super talented fashion group. Although it was my second year attending (last year I styled a scene), I am pretty sure I’ll be showing my face for many more years to come. I also dropped in on one of their practices a couple of weeks prior to the show and immensely felt the energy there, so I knew the show would be amazeballs. Fashion at Morgan AKA FAM successfully named this show, SuperNova, pushing out a stellar explosion through high fashion, urban wear, and all around undeniably chicness. I loved everything from the music to the models’ runway walks – it totally brought me back to my high school and college days of flying down the runway in the most highest heels I could find. 🙂 I started off backstage to get some cool candid shots of clothes and models and then the rest was for the show. Check out the pics!

Loved that they had an inspiration board for hair and makeup. I spy bold brows, big, funky hair dos, and sultry make up.

famshow2famhow3fambackstage9famshow4It feels uber rewarding to be able to support college students who are taking their talents to the stage for the world to see. Fashion groups like FAM (founded by my friend Avon Dorsey) gives people an opportunity to be creative, enhance their production skills, learn new things and simply have a good time outside of the dreadful school work. Ha! But any who, thanks again for inviting me FAM and keep up the great work!

Frilly Edges

pink7Madewell Scarf tied as turban, INC Blazer (similar style here), Aerie t shirt, Madewell skinny skinny ankle jeans, Elizabeth and James sunnies, Tania Spinelli pumps (similar here), Mulberry bag, Vintage belt, Caravelle by Bulova watch c/o, Forever 21 necklace
After last week’s long events, all I wanted to do was rest for a few days. Life can really get us worn out and most of us want to get as much done as we can, even when it’s for others. It shows great gratitude and love, however after hours and days of non stop ripping and running; it was simply chill time. I did that all week up until this weekend when I had a 2 day fun filled events with my fam. We went bowling on Saturday and the park yesterday and I wore this darling, light-weight tweed blazer with the most delicious pink color and black ruffle edges to the park sans the heels (yes, I was rather girly) and I felt like a modern Cher from Clueless. As If! When I got it home, I couldn’t believe how well it went with just about everything in my closet. Score! I know it may sound a bit cheesy, but this blazer definitely helped me in stopping my busy day/week to simply smell the roses. Ahhhh….Bliss. 🙂

FWH x Madewell Event Recap

madewellevent18 copy

Last week I had the pleasure of hosting an event with Madewell and it was absolute good times with most of my family, friends, readers, and supporters. Bloggers, fashion insiders,  and many more came out to celebrate style, drinks, delicious cupcakes from O’Wonderful Cupcakes, and most importantly to get a dose of Madewell’s cool new Spring Line with tons of denim hotness and inspiration. The theme was “Celebrating the Jean Jacket,” so it was super cool to see people rocking their jean jackets/vests. Oh, and there was also a sickkkk-ripping and running-clothes flying-15 minute styling challenge between 5 groups. Oh yes…Ultra fun! Check out the photos below, but BEWARE, the celebration was on FULL MODE. 😉

Outfit Inspo: Rolling With the Homies

denimlookHad my bff in town over the weekend and we literally partied all night, hitting up different restaurants/bars, lounges and ended the night at an after hour Hookah spot. Times like this makes me yearn for a chill day with the girls – absolutely looking forward to trips with my friends and relaxed days in ensembles like this. A pair of cargo pants or jeggings are a great alternative to jeans and skirts. Love this pair, and these cargo jeggings from Garage. Also swooning over this denim vest!
What is your ideal look for rolling with the homies??
1. J Brand Tommy Boyfriend Vest $249 2. T By Alexander Wang Silk Shirt $104 3. Sabine Pendant Necklace $20 4. Dorothy Perkins jeggings $39.00 5. House of Harlow 1960 Cuff $60.00 6. Vince Camuto Cuff $68.00 7. 3.1 Phillip Lim Pashli Satchel $895 8. Elizabeth and James Paige sandals $198.00

Florida Blue

floridablue2Vintage Sweatshirt, Madewell high riser jeans, Shoemint pumps, Elizabeth & James sunglasses, Forever 21 earrings, Michael Kors watch, Vintage bangle
It’s amazing what a black pair of skinny jeans and oversized shades can do to a rather chill and relaxed sweatshirt. The intensity of cobalt blue and black for me is out of this world. I am such a sucka for the two colors. I’ve been wanting a pair of black skinny jeans ever since I ripped open my brand new J brand jeans a couple of years ago, (still sad about that) but this time I wanted them to be high waisted. I have no problem saying these babies definetly filled that void. My sweatshirt, on the other hand, has been in my closet for years, it was a wacky DIY project with white fabric paint (around the neckline), some scissors and a little 80’s love that transformed it into this off the shoulder, Florida sweatshirt. It’s uber comfy and was the perfect weekend ensemble. Love.
floridabluefloridablue3floridablue4floridablue7floridablue6floridablue9floridablue8P.S. One thing about dark black denim is how prone it is to lint. Ugh, I guess I should’ve kept my lint brush on deck, hence the lint on my pants. oops.
Have a great day lovelies and thanks for stopping by!!

Summer’s Lost Footage

lostfootage

There are a few pics that were meant to be outfit posts that will probably never see the light of day but then sometimes while scrolling through pics, I may revisit or stumble upon old ones that instantly brings a pleasant nostalgic moment to mind. I remember this day vividly, my friend and I were fooling around filming a short film (just for fun) with my camera and looking for something cold and tasty for a hot Summer’s day, hence my unintentional dewy look. Ha! Watching pics like this brings a bitter sweet feeling because it reminds me that you can never get that moment back; (but thank God for pictures) however you can always reminisce great memories. It also makes me yearn for Summer even more. I’m so ready for warmer weather.
