Hey lovelies!!! Summer is almost here – honestly it is – so it’s time to buff, tan and wax those legs and prepare to bare. But you can give your skirts a small rest this season and dresses can be saved for after hours, for daytime leg baring all eyes are on shorts. And you will really need to prepare to bare, because shorts this summer are micro in size.
First things first are chino shorts. They are slightly tailored and shaped to flatter your hips and bottom and come with small turn-up and side and back pockets. But chino shorts aren’t anything new. The difference this summer is the color. Pastel shades are the color scheme of the season with hues in lilac, mint, lemon and dusty pink being the most in vogue. New Look has a great selection of these coloured chino shorts and they cost just £16.99. These shorts look great with crisp white trainers or low-heeled wedges.
Second up are denim hotpants. Again the different this season to previous summers is the color. Acid wash shorts are the hottest shorts of the summer. High-waist styles with a ripped hem and worn-look are the perfect way to tap into the grunge trend currently hitting the high street. Match these denim hotpants with a pair of concealed wedge hightops or surfer style sandals. Rihanna is a big fan of denim hotpants as seen here on FabSugar. She wears hers with a high waist and skinny belt and plenty of grungy attitude. You can copy her look at New Look with the Acid Wash Raw Edge Denim Hot Pants, which are just £19.99 and well worth the spend. These shorts go with pretty much everything; you could even dress these up with a pair of strappy sandals or courts.
Finally, you have to have a pair of floral patterned shorts in your wardrobe this summer. Scallop hems, high waists, tight fits and slight tailoring give these shorts a retro feel – check our Betty Draper in Mad Men for inspiration. New Look has a great pair; the Pop Art Floral Print Hotpants (pictured above) are just £22.99 and go with low wedges, flat white pumps or sky-high color block platforms. We suggest clashing prints and using bright neon colors to round this look off; Cheryl Cole’s look in her latest music video is about right
